Business Confidence Report and Impact of COVID 19 on Pakistani Businesses 2020/2021

The Lahore School of Economics conducted a sixth business confidence survey of firms in 2020/2021 to determine the industry specific and general macroeconomic trends prevailing in the local markets/industries. The data was collected from 162 firms from three different sectors i.e. manufacturing (51%), services (42%) and retail sectors (7%) in order to see the differences in the economic performance across various sectors. This years’ survey analysed the impact of Covid-19 on Pakistani businesses as the country was struggling with surge in Covid cases and country-wide lockdown. This year’s survey found that Covid-19 had an overall negative impact on revenues, export sales, level of investment and employment levels.
