Exporter Survey- 2021

The team at the Innovation and Technology Centre (ITC) conducted the second round of its annual Exporter Survey in 2021 to evaluate the performance of the export sector in Pakistan. Data from 157 firms was collected through telephone surveys from September 2021 to December 2021, with the majority of surveyed firms being exporters who on average exported 90% of their output. The survey sample comprised of manufacturing firms from Lahore, Faisalabad, Karachi, and Sialkot.  

Firms were asked questions regarding their organizational structure, sales turnover (both domestic and export), export destinations, export performance, cost structure, purchase of local and imported inputs (raw materials and machinery), and the impact of future policies on their value of exports.

The survey consisted of approximately 200 responses, the results indicated a general dissatisfaction within the export sector due to the depreciation, mainly because of an increase in the costs of production.
